Laser, the Fountain of Youth

If you are looking for a way to manage your wrinkles and sagging skin, then laser may just be what you were looking for. It is a safe and unique procedure that has been shown to have tremendous results in creating a more youthful appearance. Old and loose skin is tightened up by stimulating the collagen in the deeper layers of the dermis. Very few risks are associated with it and the results are really quick.

How Does it Work?

Basically, it is a non-surgical procedure in which an infrared laser is used. This targets the skin’s collagen proteins, heating them up to just the right temperature to make it thicken and contract. When this happens, it produces new collagen fibers. In so doing, baggy skin tightens up and wrinkles are filled. The procedure can be used on most parts of the body and the results are almost immediate, although serious wrinkles may need multiple treatments. Usually, the entire process takes about three months to complete, with treatments every two to four weeks.

It Is Safe

One of the most beneficial things about this procedure is that it is painless and safe. In fact, no anesthesia is needed for it. This enables the recovery time to be very quick as well. Plus, because of the fact that it is done without anesthesia, it is also a lot more affordable.

A New You

In order to prepare yourself for your laser skin tightening treatment, there are a few things that you have to do. First of all, you have to stay out of the sun for three to four weeks before your treatment. If you do have to go outside, you will need to wear a significant sun blocker. SPF 30 is acceptable, but 50 is preferred. Additionally, you will not have to wear any makeup. Some surgeries will ask you to not wear makeup for around a week before the procedure. Do ask what their specific policies are, therefore. After care will also include a number of rules. Again, you may not be able to wear makeup for a short period of time, and it is likely that you will have to continue to wear SPF 30 at least for a period of time.

Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to stop Father Time in his tracks. However, there are a few things you can do to slow him down, or at least make it look as if he hasn’t affected you yet. The sooner you address the issue, the easier it will be to see results as well, so don’t wait until you feel uncomfortable with the amount of wrinkles and sagging skin you have, but get treatment as soon as you start noticing it.
