My husband’s parents are way too cool to refer to them as “in-laws”. In any case, i was hanging out with Ben’s folks for a few days – and how cool is that, that i can go hang out with them by myself? I didn’t get as many pictures as i’d wanted to, but here’s what i’ve got.
Pictures behind the cut; normally i do batches of photos in gallery style, but i want to add commentary, so they’re posted individually.
This is but a part of their porch (it wraps around all but one of the sides of the house), and they have a fire pit! So awesome. This is my idea of luxury: a place where you can have a campfire and still be within easy distance of a decent bathroom.
Next up: l’Arc de Huh. It was there when they moved in, and we just have No Idea. Did it originally serve some kind of purpose? If you find the right artifact to stick in that hole up top, does it create a wormhole to another world? Did it ever look like it fit in with the context of the rest of the property?
Now, i do know that just behind l’Arc de Huh, there are two wonderful things: pear trees. Oh my goodness, SO MANY PEARS. I love pears, so i was not complaining. These pears were ones that fell and were not deemed edible. The pears that were edible were just perfect: not too hard, not too soft, and i could tell that they were not store-ripened. I could have easily eaten twice as many pears as are in this picture.
Now, another part of the trip involved visiting a place that had some VERY amusing things. Like this book. And yes, it really does say “Porn for New Moms.” It’s filled with pictures of “young hot fireman” type fellows with babies, often captioned with things like, “No honey, you go have a night out with the girls. Your mom and i will take care of the baby,” or “Why don’t you come lie down over here and tell me all about the baby’s day?” Absolutely hysterical.
And this sign was too brilliant to not be photographed.
The second or third night i was there, the moon was just insanely gorgeous. Observe:
And to wrap it all up…
A picture of da MoMMa and Pa:
A picture of me and pa, with me wearing my awesome new hat. I think it makes me look a bit goofy, but i do believe i could care less. It’s comfy and keeps the sun out of my eyes.
A picture of me and da MoMMa. Yes, the hat has magical head-enlongating powers, but forget all that. Isn’t she wearing an awesome shirt?
Next up: killing my camera’s batteries on Amtrak.
