Oakland Cemetery Picnic

Ben and I are attempting to break ourselves out of our hermit-like ways. Every year, a friend of ours hosts a picnic at the Oakland Cemetery. We know a fair people who were invited, and we thought it’d be a neat thing to do. I love it when I’m right.

Saw a lot of old friends, met a few new ones. All in all, it was delightful. I brought my camera but didn’t take nearly as many pictures as I would have liked. I’m telling myself that one day I’ll just hop the train and head to the cemetery to get a slew of pictures… but we all know how these things go. It could still happen.

At one point, one of my new friends and I went for a smoke/walk. We rambled all over the place, taking random turns and chatting. Most of the pictures under the cut are from that walk. I didn’t take any pictures of people there, because I know I’m weird about having my picture taken; just being respectful and all that jazz.

Pictures are under the cut.

You know you’re at a goth picnic when someone brings a skull cake. I had a small slice of the teeth (ye gods, that sounds horrible), and it was scrumptious.

Cake AND death!

Is it just me, or does this tree have boobs?

I love the more unusual monuments that you find in cemeteries. One of these days I should post some of the pictures I’ve taken of other strange or unusual structures. It could happen.

We were delighted to find huge patches of rosemary bushes, and couldn’t resist rubbing some through our hands, for the smell.

This was the only UNKNOWN headstone I noticed while I was there. While I was sorting through the other pictures I’d taken, there were actually quite a few others.

And just like all things, this post must come to an end.
