Long time no update

I know, it’s been a hella long time.

Long story short: not possible.

I’ve moved from Atlanta to Chicago; I grew up here, and this is where my family is. It’s good to be back.

Ben and I are in the process of getting a divorce. It’s very amicable. We’ve been good friends for a very long time, and in a lot of ways, that’s all we have been in recent years. I want him to live and be well, and I’ll hold dear the memories of the good times we’ve shared.

I’ve decided to let my websites & domains expire when their time’s up. I’m still around on Facebook and LiveJournal. If you know how to find me there, feel free say hi; if you don’t know how to find me there, post a comment to that effect here.

I’m sure there’s a LOT more stuff, but those are the major points. I’m not sure if anyone is even reading this anymore, but if you are? Hi. Hope you’re doing well. :)

Whoops!

When i was going through my blog the other day, doing assorted bloggy bits, i realized a few things:

  • I never got around to posting the last batch of pictures from my MI/Chicago trip (that was HOW many months ago? eep)
  • The large pictures don’t play well with the new layout. And there are a few other minor layout adjustments that need to be made.
    • Fixed, i think. I’m sure in a week or two, i’ll see something that looks wrong and i’ll hafta go back in and fix it. Such is life.

I will be resolving both of those issues in the next day or two, but first i have to decide: find some way to auto-resize all of the images? Or go back to each individual post and manually fix them? Y’all, that’s a LOT of pictures. I’ve got my work cut out for me. Lucky for me, i like a good bit of tinkering.

Holysnapwhere’dallthisstuffcomefrom?!

Long story short: i’m closing down a few other blogs and moving their content here. The artwork isn’t going anywhere; it’s just no longer bogarting the domain. If you’re subscribed via RSS, these extra posts may show up, but they may not. In any case, there’ll hopefully be more content here soonish.

Selected pieces now available for purchase

Ages ago, i checked out a site called FinerWorks.com. I was intrigued by their printing process, quality of paper, and their payment/markup options. What made it awesome was that they let me request a sample package of things printed on the different types of paper/canvas/etc. I got a nice thick envelope of those samples in the mail within a week. I was really pleased with how quickly they sent it out to me, so that was another point in their favor.

I’d take a picture, if that would do the samples any justice… but i don’t think it would. You can either request a sample yourself, or you can believe me when i say holy SNAP this site is neat.

I’ve just today set up an account there; i’ve uploaded nine of my favorite pieces, made them available on high quality archival matte paper (neutral white, acid-free, rated at 100 years), and sized them at 8×10 or 10×8 inches.

Each piece has a $15 markup, over a base printing price of about $6. I think that’s a fairly decent price for the items, especially considering item quality, etc. I know my stepmum would say i’m under-selling myself, but i think she’s biased. I’m trying to keep prices at a nice “not too expensive for anyone else out there” price while also having it be something that helps keep the lights on. Every little bit counts, these days.

Here’s a link to my store there, and another link directly to the gallery.

Also: i’ve set up a new Store page, and will soon be adding more stuff to it. No spoilers, but i’ll give you a hint: hand-crafted items of much niftiness.

Tinkering with layout

I’ve changed the site so that the front page is once again bloggy instead of static. Just an experiment to see how it goes. Seems like people hit the front page and don’t really explore, but i could be wrong on that. So let’s see how this works? Good times.

Site Update: upgrades, things left to do…

Wordpress 2.7 was released the other day, and even though this site is pretty quiet, i wanted to take advantage of some of the nifty features (like the new comment system). And i like the new admin panel better. Much cleaner and easier on the eyes.

It took a few days of eye-twitching and invective-spewing to get the theme to be compatible, but my test site seemed to display it all just fine, so let’s hope it stays functional on the live side.

One thing that was not working was the search box. I was afraid i’d have to turn it off, but it seems to be working here. If that stops working and you get “page not found” when you try to search for something? Please let me know so i can fix it. Oy. Turns out it’s not actually working. I’ve turned it off for now, because the way in which it is Not Working is very similar to a bug that came up when WP 2.6 was released. So either they’ve got new code implemented that isn’t properly documented, or they done fugged up. So yeah. No search for you. Yet. Maybe i’ll get a google search box or something.

I’ve got a few things to set back up, still. There’s more artwork to be uploaded, and i want to create a category/section for other WP themes that i’ve done in the past. But actually, now that i think about it…? I’m not up for the task of getting them compatible with 2.7 just yet. But when i am, they’ll be back, i swear. Honest.

Sneaky peaky

So if you’re subscribed to this page, you’ll soon find yourself spammed with bits as i set up various things and bring back parts of the site. It may seem a bit wonky, but it’ll make more sense when you see it.

In any case, i’ll post to let folks know when it’s fully public again.
